Active Voltage Correction Solutions

Sizing, Purchase, and Delivery Made Easy!

Voltage Regulation Solutions. Delivered.

Voltage and current are constantly changing in distribution systems. Your drives, boards and controls are constantly bombarded with voltage and amperage sags and surges. We know the inverse relationship between voltage (volts) and current (amps) is constantly offsetting. When there is a voltage sag the amperage spikes, and when the voltage surges the amperage sags. All of your controls are exposed to this change 100% of the time. A Voltage Correction Device will correct and hold the voltage to avoid these deviations that slowly wear out control and all process equipment. Recurring maintenance to replace boards, capacitors, and parts is more frequent because of this wear. Not to mention complete downtime to reset equipment and processes. (AVC) Active Voltage Correction or (AVR) Active Voltage Regulation are technologies to provide voltage stability.

AVC or UPS System?

A majority of ups system equipment built for Data Centers does not qualify to correct harsh environment voltage. The Harsh environment in a plant facility requires a robust Industrial UPS solution or (AVC) Active Voltage Correction Device. The sizing and tolerance of an Industrial UPS System vs. sizing a Voltage Correction device is different.

Power Grid Problems

Almost all of these customer power issues can be corrected locally with a Voltage Correction Device or Industrial UPS. Most power anomalies that effect a facility from the utility side are derived from the transmission process. There is a low probability that the Utility Provider is creating bad voltage.

Internally Derived Problems

Voltage sags can arrive from the utility; however, in most cases, the majority of sags are generated inside a building. Power issues derived internally comes from equipment cycling on and off will pull on various phases. It is never constant and voltage is always changing inside a facility.

What is Active Voltage Correction?

Voltage and current are constantly changing in distribution systems. Your drives, boards and controls are constantly bombarded with voltage and amperage sags and surges. Direct Benefits to Active Voltage Correction

  • Reduce DOWNTIME
  • Reduce/ Eliminate voltage/amperage fluctuation events wearing all computer components
  • Reduce/ Eliminate voltage/amperage fluctuation events wearing all drives, PLC’s, and control equipment.
  • Lower Maintenance and replacement parts cost
  • Constant Voltage Environment for all facility equipment
  • Ability to monitor and understand load dynamics and incoming power

Why Do I need Voltage Correction?

Most facilities these days experience a host of power anomalies throughout the year. In many cases the manufacturing process is knocked offline due to the voltage interruption. What most do not understand is that it is usually a sag and not a full outage scenario.

Protect Your Facility Load with a Voltage Correction Device.

It is important to analyze the power prior to choosing a corrective method. Most customer events could be a single phase sag event, or a multi-phase sag event which can easily be corrected with an AVC Active Voltage Correction System. For these reasons it is imperative to measure and analyze the loads in the facility, as well as the power to determine the best course of action. Industrial Clean Power Reps can assist you through that process. Please contact us for a discussion on your facility.

Where do I install Voltage Correction?

A system may be sized to pick up an entire facility, specific process line, or down to the individual piece of equipment. A Facility Power Study and possible monitoring will be done to specifically pick up the issues in the plant. The equipment is located near the equipment it is supported. Switchgear distribution sections that support the facility are usually the location to tie in systems to pick up areas of the plant. Systems may also be located outside. Our national team of installation professionals can provide a turn-key installation proposal that reflect delivery, installation and electrical inter-connection.

Have a site survey done to survey your facility and install a power metering device.

When you install equipment that will correct power and hold voltage within your facility, you will be providing your facility with protection against all outside influences of power. Halting wear and tear on other equipment in the facility by having stable voltage and power factor is the goal. The long term positives are lowered operations and maintenance costs by limiting voltage and amperage anomalies inside the facility. It is common to vet these issues by installing a monitoring device at the service entrance of the facility utility power. This is a low-cost method to really understand these issues and to make a proper diagnosis.
